Netflix Planing For Facebook Integration

Posted on 31 January 2011 by Adviction

Imagine logging into your Netflix streaming account using your Facebook ID, and watching Inception.  When you’re done, another family member sits down, clicks and logs in with their ID, and looks at their own customized recommendations.  This is what Netflix is planning with their announcement of entering the social media world, through Facebook.

Facebook Makes Page Creation Even Easier : Check It

Posted on 31 January 2011 by Adviction

Facebook has made it easier than ever to start a new page.

The new starter subsite has a visual guide that shows newbies exactly how a page will be named and classified on the site. Icons depict the different groupings of pages that new admins can select from to start creating a page.

Behind this the easier-to-use interface is a more detailed categorization scheme that makes sure new pages show up in the right place on the site.

The new interface also includes the opportunity to supply a current address for a local business that people would be able to check into using the geolocation service Places.

Do you think the new streamlined interface will motivate more people to start pages on Facebook?

Tips To Optimize Your Tweets For Search Engines

Posted on 29 January 2011 by Adviction

      Twitter. Use it Wisely

Today Twitter is a rapidly growing Social Tool which is also a hit among Marketers. With its 20 million active user base it is loved by Search Engines as well.

That is an impressive no. of people sending millions of tweets. I think this is really a great platform for businesses to keep updated their followers about company’s new products and offerings who wish to follow them.

Even some time before, Google made an agreement with Twitter to show tweets in their search results. It means your tweets can be viewed as an unique listing in Google Search Engine which can help in increasing traffic on your website.

I think indexing of tweets in search engine offers a great way for businesses to show their presence in Google Search Engine. This is the best time to start optimizing your Twitter presence to maximize your results.

      Report On Egypt Internet Blackout

Posted on 29 January 2011 by Adviction

A scientist at the network security company Arbor Networks has used data from 80 Internet service providers around the world to create an image of the Internet block in Egypt.

The graphic, which was compiled using anonymous traffic engineering statistics, shows traffic to and from Egypt dropping sharply around 5:20 p.m. ET. As of about three hours ago, traffic has not picked back up.

Craig Labovitz, the creator of the graphic and chief scientist at Arbor Networks, says that he found no evidence of Internet disruption in Syria, debunking a report from Al Arabiya earlier Friday that suggested all service in Syria had been cut off.

This is again under the Startup Gyan Section which is certainly the right mix of practices for all the budding startups.
Do take care of each and every point mentioned in the article because if any missed or messed , you will end up losing the deal.
          “Here It Goes”
          Tips on effective pitching
How do you turn a pitch from a monolog to a sale? Make sure every point you
make connects  with your audience. Keep your text very, very  short. Really.
Please. Use charts  and pictures if you can. And engage your prospect. Ask
questions. “Do you think  this market opportunity  is  interesting?” “Have you seen
anyone else addressing this problem?” “Do you think CIOs would be interested in
a solution like this?” You may get some tough responses, but you will know a lot
more about what is  going on in the investor’s mind, and you will be engaging
them in your story—instead of letting them play with their Blackberries under the
          table.

Reasons Why? FourSquare Posted 3,400% Growth Last Year

Posted on 28 January 2011 by Adviction

Okay, double-digit growth is usually something to celebrate … but quadruple-digit growth? That’s pretty impressive. So, it’s hardly surprising that FourSquare is thumping its chest a bit on its corporate blog. After all, the young company’s 3,400 percent growth in 2010 justifies a bit of bravado.

So, how did FourSquare pull this off? Let’s take a look at five factors that drove the company’s meteoric ascent:

          1. More check-ins than Americans: of course, FourSquare is a global social media application (I picked up a few mayorships when I was in London last week, for example); there have even been check-ins from North Korea! Nonetheless, 381,576,305 check-ins in 2010 is pretty impressive. There was even one from outer space!

PeopleString Collects Your Favorite Sites : Check How?

Posted on 28 January 2011 by Adviction

          People String

New Jersey-based startup PeopleString has announced the Beta release of its new Social Portal, which allows users to organize favorite web sites or small sections of their favourite sites as tabs, bookmarks or “InstaPortal” previews. In what could be termed browser tabbing within a browser, the patent pending “IntaPortal” technology means users can take snippets or entire websites and integrate them into a Netvibes-like homepage where users can quickly preview and organize these into web page slices. PeopleString calls it a Social Portal that’s meant to create social relationships through aggregation of social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter.
